Event Description:
S.M.A.R.T., or Seeking More Advancement with Resources & Topics, is our new quarterly educational series! All of our topics are based on the areas of need and requests made in our annual membership survey, so we hope that you find these educational sessions helpful and relevant to your organization.
The quarter one S.M.A.R.T. topic is Recruitment & Hiring Solutions!
Attendees will hear from Shawn Hecker and Tim Saunders, who will individually present on their respective topics and offer time for Q&A after each talk. There will also be time for networking after the main event has concluded.
Shawn Hecker is the Market Manager for Manpower, serving Western Central Virginia with 25 years of staffing industry experience. Shawn will discuss Manpower's MyPath program, which provides clients with access to more highly qualified talent and reduced turnover. MyPath is a collection of career resources that helps Manpower candidates and associates prepare for the changing world of work. Shawn will focus on how employers can attract, retain, and create talent with in-demand skills with the goal of building a community of talent.
Tim Saunders is the Business Engagement and Outreach Coordinator for the Central Virginia Workforce Development Board, part of Virginia Career Works. Tim will share information about incentives available for employers who recruit workers through Virginia Career Works programs, such as wage reimbursements and funding to cover work experiences for high school students. Tim will also share details about a grant program that’s available to cover training and professional development expenses for workers who are already on an employer’s payroll.
